You Must Be Joking If You Thinking I'm Living PDP, Gov Aliyu

Governor, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu
Niger State, Governor, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu yesterday disowned reports that he is part of a group Northern Governors planning to dump the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for another party, following the fiasco of last week’s election of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).
Aliyu made the declaration at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 700 megawatts Zungeru Hydroelectric Power Plant Project by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
He described those who want to cause problems between the Presidency and Niger State as jokers and enemies who want to disintegrate the PDP.

Aliyu said: "Mr President, we are one, we are still together. If we don't respect you and if we do not follow you, God will ask us. If you hear criticism, it is not that we do not love you, it is because we want more development projects.”

The Governor said further: "Regardless of the noise, we shall come out of it, the PDP shall emerge victorious. Those who are thinking that they can cause a bridge between the Presidency and Niger State, they are all joking because we are in the same party and nothing will change that.”

Also, a statement signed by Governor Aliyu’s Chief Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo said such reports were being planted by those who were seeking to disintegrate the PDP, describing the insinuation as wishful thinking by the sponsors of the report.

“The story of the planned defection of Governor Aliyu is a figment of imagination of persons who are either threatened by the successes the party has made in the last 14 years or are afraid of squaring up with the party in 2015 general elections,” the statement read.

Governor Aliyu said he is embarrassed by the orchestrated attempt to impugn his hard-earned integrity, emphasizing that he remains a committed democrat, principled politician and a loyal member of the PDP.

Aliyu said as the leader of the PDP in his state, he is one of the pillars of the party and would continue to work to make it stronger and united in the larger interest of the nation.
The statement urged the public to disregard any report purporting to suggest that the governor is planning to leave the PDP.

Three traditional rulers in the state, the Emirs of Minna, Kotangora and Kagara conferred chieftancy titles on President Jonathan for his commitment to the actualisation of the Zungeru Hydro Project. The titles include 'Dagaba Minna, Maiyaki of Kotangora and Dan'Haske of Kagara
